• introduced by insta controls, the thermistor protection unit permits operation of motor only at safe and rated loads. the unit helps transformers and electrical machines and comprises ptc thermistors and an electronic relay unit. one set of thermistor can be connected to the tpu 01 din. each set of thermistor consists of 3 thermistors in series (for three phase transformers/motors, 1 thermistor per phase) and the response temperature depends on the thermistors. as long as the temperature is not reached, the relay unit will not get actuated. the set of thermistors is wired to the terminals and when the temperature of the equipment exceeds the tripping temperature, the relay releases. when the temperature lessens below the safe level of the tripping temperature, the relay is reactuated. up to 9 ptc thermistors can be wired in series. temp sense reduces maintenance costs and repair cost of machine failures due to overloading; permits operation of motor only at safe and rated loads; cuts down inventory and repair costs and eliminates blocking of capital; and most efficient, economical way to protect motors from failure through a host of causes.these are the key features of this unit
