Hydrobromic acid (hbr) is a clear, colorless or faintly yellow, highly acidic and corrosive aqueous solution of hydrogen bromide, and is a strong liquid acid. It is sensitive to light and heat and may take on an amber color during storage due to formation of free bromine. Concentrated hydrobromic acid is used principally in the preparation of certain organic chemicals and vitamin a. Hydrobromic acid is used in the preparation of various chemical intermediates, synthetic dyes, drugs, perfumes, bromides and in photography. It is an important chemical product, which is widely used in refrigeration, pharmacy, and chemical fiber and also be used to produce many kinds of bromide, alkyl, synthetic sedative and anaesthetic. Hydrobromic acid is primarily an intermediate in the pharmaceutical and other fine chemical industries.
