Sulphuric acid (h2so4) is a heavy, corrosive, oily liquid, it is colorless when pure, but usually has yellowish or brownish color, it is produced by the combined action of sulphur dioxide, oxygen, steam, and nitric fumes. Sulphuric acid is a powerful dehydrating agent and is used to remove a molecule of water from many organic compounds. Sulphuric acid is widely used in the chemical industry because it has many uses as a strong oxidizing agent and a powerful dehydrating agent. Sulphuric acid is used in the manufacture of plastics, car battery, leather tanning, explosive, synthetic rubber etc. It is also used in etching iron, in removing iron scale from forging, in petroleum refining, pulp and paper industry etc.
