Sweet dreams!
Sleeping bags have always been on the top of the priority list of every outdoor trekker. Camping and sleeping bags seem to have always been a part of our lives. People have found the great outdoors to be a fun way to become one with nature. Sleeping bags help in making camping an ideal way to create memorable experiences with family and friends.
A sleeping bag is a protective bag for a person to sleep in, essentially a blanket that can be closed with a zipper or similar means, and functions as a bed in situations where it is impractical to carry around a full bed. Its primary purpose is to provide warmth and insulation. It also protects, to some extent, against wind, precipitation, and exposure to view, but a tent performs those functions better. The bottom surface also provides some cushioning, but a sleeping pad is usually used for that purpose. A bivouac sack is a waterproof cover for a sleeping bag that may be used in place of a tent for lightweight travelers or as a backup if inclement weather occurs.
One can never predict weather changes once they are camping or trekking and hence in order to stay protected these sleeping bags prove more than handy. These sleeping bags come heavily insulated with a 20 to 30 degree temperature rating, which keeps the person using them warm during the cold and chilly nights.
These sleeping bags are available in different size to cater to people of different height. While trekking these sleeping bags can also be easily folded and since they are lightweight they can very easily be carried around. The unique designs of these new sleeping bags produced today allow for more legroom thereby making them more comfortable for sleeping after a long hard trek.
A basic sleeping bag is simply a square blanket, fitted with a zipper on one or two sides, allowing it to be folded in half and secured in this position. A sleeping bag of this type is packed by being folded in half or thirds, rolled up, and bound with straps or cords. The basic design works well for most camping needs but is inadequate under more demanding circumstances.
the second major type of sleeping bag, sometimes called a mummy bag because of its shape. Mummy sleeping bags taper from the head end to the foot end, reducing its volume and surface area, and improving its overall heat retention properties. Some bags are designed specially to accommodate women's body shapes.
Infant sleeping bags are bags-like garment or covering worn by infants for sleeping. Infant sleeping bags differ from regular sleeping bags in design and purpose, being designed primarily for indoor rather than outdoor use, and usually featuring either arm holes or sleeves. Infant sleeping bags are only recommended for babies who are four months and above.
