A high current, low profile inductor includes a conductive coil molded within an inductor body substantially free from ferrite materials and comprising powdered iron materials. The inductor coil is formed from a flat plate, which is cut into a sine-shaped configuration and then is folded in accordion fashion to create a helical coil. Inductor store energy in the form of a magnetic field. In their simplest form, inductors consist of a wire loop or coil. The inductance is directly proportional to the number of turns in the coil. Inductance also depends on the radius of the coil and on the type of material around which the coil is wound. Inductor coils can be used in double balance mixers, broadband transformers, impedance transformers etc and also has many other applications.
