Current limiting fuses place a definite upper limit on the peak current and thermal energy to provide equipment protection against damage from excessive thermal energy or magnetic stresses.
They are ideal for current limit application in fused motor starters and switches, fused circuit breakers, and feeder circuits for protection of busways and cable. These fuses limit the amount of current that is available from the system. They limit fault current by introducing a very high impedance into the circuit, thus forcing the current down to zero amperes before the normal 60 cycle zero occurs.
These fuses are designed for mounting in an industry standard interchangeable cutout. The full range current limiting rating ensures reliable operation of all overloads and fault currents. The element construction consists of two separate section, low current section and high current section and is self-contained.
