Electrical fuses interrupt the flow of electrical current when it is overloaded. They have wider application in every power distribution system like industries and domestic purpose. Low voltage electrical fuses designed with features for applications of 600 v or lower must correspond to underwriters laboratories standards. They come with features like frequency rating, voltage rating, continuos current rating, time current characteristics etc. Power fuses provide consistence and fast protection for electrical equipment. They are primarily used for protection of power transformer, feeder circuit and capacitor bank. These fuses come in two models for specific applications, like plug and cartridge. Plug fuses are for low voltage applications having no interrupting rating often used for domestic applications. Cartridge fuses are made with high current limitations ideal for fused motor starters and switches, fused circuit breaker, and feeder circuits for protection of busways and cable etc.
