A coupler is an optical device that combines or splits power from optical fiber. Current taps, cutouts, switch and fuses are electrical control devices often used in current control/restriction applications. The electrical coupler may find applications to high-voltage circuits, which operate at voltages of a much larger value than what is needed across the electrical coupler to supply the current. Inductive electrical couplings are devices used in non-contact transmission of electrical power or electronic signals, through stationary, rotating, or moving equipment via an inductive connection.
Optocouplers are capable of transferring an electrical signal between two circuits while electrically isolating the circuits from each other. They generally consist of an infrared led emitting section at the input and a silicon photo-detector at the output. The input for these couplers may be ac/dc. The couplers can be used in local monitoring of the light source output and distributing a common signal to several locations simultaneously.
