Adhesives are substances that help in bonding two materials together and sealing them with durability. Adhesives are either natural adhesives or synthetic adhesives. Natural adhesives made from vegetable (natural resin), food (animal hide and skin) and mineral sources (inorganic materials). Synthetic adhesives are based on based on elastomers, thermoplastic, and thermosetting adhesives. Glues are a member of the drying adhesive family. These adhesives are used for domestic applications. Thermoplastic adhesives or hot melt adhesives are applied hot and are allowed to coll and harden. This hot glue or hot melt glue has versatile uses and very convenient for application. Gums are adhesives from the ancient times. They are obtained from gum trees, gum vegetables like gum acacia, guar gum and many more.
