Silicone adhesives are available in a variety of technologies. These technologies include pressure sensitive, radiation cured, moisture cured, thermoset and room temperature vulcanising (rtv) silicone. Silicone pressure sensitive adhesives adhere to most surfaces with very slight pressure and they retain their stickiness. Radiation cured or uv silicone adhesives use ultra violet, visible light or electron beam which offers permanent bond without heating or excessive heat generation.. Thermoset silicone adhesives and silicone sealants cured using heat or heat and pressure. Thermoset silicone adhesives when cured, may soften when heated but does not melt and flow. Rtv rubber silicone are room temperature vulcanising materials that cure through reaction with moisture in the air and give off acetic acid fumes or any other by product fumes during the process of curing. Sulphur is a customary vulcanising agent used with natural rubber. Silicones use moisture, acetic acid and many other compounds as curing agents. Silicone adhesives and silicone sealants have a high degree of flexibility.
