Cyclone

Cleanliness holds a very important stand in every fragment of the society. Though, this has led to the development of cleanliness equipments like cyclones and is also known as vortex separators. This air pollution control equipment use rotational effects and gravity to separate mixtures of solids and fluids. Because of different densities the heavier material is flung to the outside edge of the vortex while the lighter material is concentrated in the centre of the vortex. Cyclone rotates with high speed in a conical container and creates high g-forces that push the particulate matter towards the outside wall. As the rotating air-flow moves towards the narrow end of the conical container the g-forces steadily increase enabling the separation of finer particles. The cyclone filter, the cleaning equipment, is attached within the cyclone, is helpful in removing dust from air, separating oil from gas and size separation as well as airborne particles for analysis. There are methods of removing particles from an air (or gas) stream without having to use filters. This is called as cyclone separator. Large-scale cyclone is used among other things in saw mills to remove sawdust from extracted air. Analogous devices for separating particles or solids from liquids are called hydrocyclones or hydrclones.
