Clock has since yore been mans guide to time. The first ever
clock used by man to ascertain time was a sundial. Though the accuracy of this
instrument could not be justified it did provide a considerable accuracy to measure
time. Subsequent to which the sand mill was invented to gauge time. Though this
instrument did provide better accuracy level, it did could only measure time in
short units and had to be regularly manually handled to keep its ticking.
The more accurate measurement of time was only possible after
the invention of clocks. They were primarily installed at public
places like churches and squares to indicate time. These clocks
were huge in size and could only be fitted in high buildings.
The further improvement of this version was then called wall clock.
These clocks
were a popular instrument for keeping time at every home. They had to be regularly
winded with a help of a key. These clocks were manually operated and functioned
on the momentum gathered by using a coil principle.
With the passage of time
wall clocks became smaller in size and began to function with the help of batteries.
Today the market is flooded with innumerable varieties of clocks in different
sizes and shapes. With the ones from China selling like hot cakes because of their
aesthetics and economical prices.
