• For any ac/dc machine fails, to work, it is needed first a fault detector. This measuring meter is useful for detecting the shorting in winding in electric motors, generators and transformer. It can find the fault of winding without opening the motor such as burnt, reverse connection, open coils, etc. Method of testing: connect the lead of the motor, generator or transformer to the red terminal of meter. Press the test switch on panel of the meters. If the meter gives full deflection set the black switch as pointer should shows the resistance on bar. You can compare the resistance with connecting the lead of that motor, generator or transformer or like windings in same motor; generator (poly phase) or transformer to the red terminal of meter. The less ac resistance shows week winding. The meter will indicate the resistance as per the condition of the windings. This meter is useful in detecting the winding faults (comparing ac resistance) in poly phase machines where the windings are identical and in same type of motor, generator and transformers. .
