• Raytek inc presents marathon fibre optic ratio thermometer, model mrif. It uses two-colour infrared measurement to cater superior accuracy in severe environments. This thermometer includes small changeable focus optical head, armoured and sealed fibre optic cable, and a separate electronics enclosure with user interface panel. Marathon mrif thermometer allows measurement of targets which are otherwise not accessible with conventional ratio thermometers. This consists targets in difficult-to-reach locations, in very hot environments, or close to electromagnetic fields. The optical head is made of stainless steel with achromatic lenses capable of withstanding ambient temperatures of up to 200°c and is rated nema-4 to prevent leaking of water or oil. The electronic processing unit has a display, selection between °c/°f, two colour/single colour operation and signal processing of peak, hold and average. This instrument is offered in a wide choice of ranges from 650°c to 3,000°c and because of its high speed digital signal processor, it supports smart operation and has a very small answer time of 10 msec. It outputs both digital and analogue 4-20 ma dc. Programmable relay outputs, dirty window alarms and field calibration software make this instrument an ideal choice for almost all process temperature measurements. Marathon ratio thermometer is distinguished by a unique bidirectional, rs485 serial communications link between the sensor on the factory floor and a personal computer in the control room. This helps remote setup, monitoring, calibration and maintenance, especially valuable for installations in hard-to-reach locations..
