• Fitwell engineering company introduces agitated pressure filters for separation of bulk particulate solids from the process slurry. The equipment is best suited where the material handled is expensive and where filteration is to be carried out under close condition, because of the hazardous nature of solvents. The operation is batch or semi-continuous type. Application includes dyestuffs, paints, pharmaceuticals, pesticides fertilisers, chemicals, foodstuff, etc. Construction: the agitated pressure filter consists of a cylindrical vessels with dished ends at the top and bottom. It is divided into two compartments by means of a perforated plate with suitable filter cloth. The equipment is provided with double drive. Arrangement, one for stirring of the filtration ass and other for up-down movement of the agitator. Selection and design: while designing the agitated pressure filter following aspects are to be heeded nature of slurry and solid particles, filtration characteristics with respect to temperature, porosity and permeability of wet cake and filter media, selection of filter media, selection of filtration area and cake height.
