• Voith turbo coupling is a hydrodynamic coupling based on the formula foettinger's principle. Its components include bladed wheels-a pump wheel, a turbine wheel and an outer shell. These wheels are positioned relative to each other. Output is achieved with minimal mechanical wear as there is no mechanical contact between power-transmitting parts. The coupling consists of quantity of operating fluid, usually mineral oil, for specific application fluid can be water or water emulsion. The torque transmitted by the drive motor is converted into kinetic energy of the operating fluid in the pump wheel to which the motor is connected. This kinetic energy is converted back into mechanical energy. Consisting minimal difference in speed between the pump and turbine wheel, a constant flow is achieved in the coupling. The demand torque from the machine is transmitted. Through skilful co-ordination of compensating chambers, such as the delay chamber and the annular chamber shell, the starting perfomance of the turbo coupling can be regulated. Its application are belt conveyors, chain conveyors, centrifuges, decanters crusher, centrifugal fans and high-inertia machines. The version features a "delay-fill chamber" which is flange-connected to the pump wheel of the coupling (type tv). At stand-still, a proportion of the working fluid lies in this chamber, thus reducing the volume in the working chamber. So on motor start-up, a reduced coupling torque is transmitted, whilst .
