• Offshore seals take pride in introducing themselves as manufacturer cum supplier of different seals and rings. One amongst them is oil seal. Oil seals or shaft seals are used on shafts or axles that rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise. They are fitted in housings with low different pressures. The sealing element elastomer, like sleeve and the metal stiffening ring case, both of which are vulcanized together and in the radial direction, the flex section ends in a lip, on which annular spiral tension spring is inserted. The function of an oil seal or shaft seal is to prevent or minimize the leakage of oil or other media between a moving shaft and a stationary component. The design made on the oil seal varies in wide range. A different style could provide a differential sealing efficiency. The design of an oil seal will also determine the maximum pressure it can withstand. Oil seal dimensions are determined by its shaft diameter (d), bore diameter (d) and seal height (h). The main function of this type of seal is to exclude the ingress of dirt, dust, water or any other extraneous substances whilst maintaining lubricant for the seal lip and protecting rotating bearings. Primarily used in rotary applications, shaft seals offer lots of advantages. They`re economical, easy to install, and effective in a wide range of environments. Any mechanical assembly containing fluids must be designed so that these substances flow only where intended and do not leak into other parts of the assembly (or out of the assembly entirely). These packing seals are incorporated into mechanical designs to prevent such leakage at the points where different parts of an assembly meet. These meeting points are known as mating surfaces, and the space between them is called a clearance gap. The purpose of such grease seals is to block this clearance gap so that nothing passes through it and, in many instances, also to exclude contaminants or to separate fluids.
