• National instruments india presents 18-slot pxi/compact pci suitable for automation applications and high-slot count measurement. Engineers can blend up to 18 pxi/compact pci modules into a compact, rack-mountable, tightly synchronized measurement and automation system with pxi-1006 3u chassis. The product incorporates an 18-slot pxi back plane, a removable 600 w power supply, and three 130 cfm fans. The chassis has an highly evolved cooling design, extended star trigger bus, and an auto sensing 10 mhz clock to ensure synchronization among all peripheral slots. For manufacturing test, data acquisition and large switching applications the product is an ideal platform. Engineers can use the chassis to take full advantage of pxi instrumentation to reduce test time and time-to-market while bettering their test flexibility. With two pxi-to-pxi bridges, the pxi-1006 back plane transparently extends both the pxi bus and the timing and triggering signals to all 18-slots while maintaining the full 132 mbytes/s bandwidth defined by the pxi specification. Ni designed the product with airflow deflectors and venting to secure that each of the 18 slots in the chassis receives more uniform airflow. This decreases the operating temperature, prolongs system life, and increases the mean-time between-failure (mtbf). Engineers can switch off the power for the 18-slot chassis remotely via a db-9 connector with the remote power inhibit and monitoring feature. The +3.3, +5, and +12 v dc signals also are present on the connector so engineers can monitor power in the chassis or can power an external device..
