• Vernier calipers with vee jaws has three contact faces to measure the diameters of reamers, milling cutters, end mills, taps, gears, spline shafts and the like having 3 to 5 flutes/faces or uneven numbers of flutes/faces which can be divided by 3 or 5 and are evenly spaced. These calipers are ideal, for checking out of roundness (lobing effect) of the components after centreless grinding operation. The diameters can be directly read on the calipers with a resolution of 0.05 mm. The measuring range is 4-40 mm, for which normally 2 or 3 vee anvil micrometers are required for each type (3 and 5 flutes). Therefore, vee anvil calipers work out economical..
