• Speed change gearbox is the latest attraction from elecon engineering company limited. They are made to obtain variable speed of rolling mill to suit the requirements of the clients, for the growing need of steel rolling mills. Special-purpose gearboxes like this have been supplied to precision equipments, flat products and to ultimate users such as comet steels, sipta steels, nanded, and him ispat, himachal pradesh. The gearboxes are designed for transmitting 0-1000-1000-900 kw power at 0-350-1150-1250 input speed and speed change ratio of 1.0689/1 and 1.857/1. The speed changing is done by means of a shifter coupling provided on the input shaft through a level arrangement, which is hydraulically actuated. The speed change gearbox is coupled to a dc motor through the geared coupling at input shaft, and the output shaft of the gearbox is coupled with the main gearbox by geared coupling. Coupled to a rolling mill for coiler, uncoiler, rewinder, payoff and decoiler is the main gearbox..
